Celebrating Jaquelinn Fernandez, Michigan Police Officer

Working in a male dominant industry in the roughest city meant that she couldn't appear to be a pushover, or she wouldn't survive.   Jaquelinn admits that seeing so much death takes a mental toll on a person, which is why she transferred out of Detroit after 10 years.  She says that there's something within a human where, "you either have it or you don't, and that's running into danger knowing that the outcome could be losing your life in exchange for someone else's."

Celebrating Monica Alderman, US Navy Veteran

After her service, Monica faced poverty once again, only this time, she had military benefits on her side.  She was able to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and is now finishing up a Master's Degree Program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Oakland University.
